Our herd of Certified Animal Welfare Approved  Rotokawa Red Devons are descendants of the group imported by Ridge Shinn in the early 2000s. We have been renting breeding bulls from Henry Hauptman, the herd's current owner, for the past ten years. The herd is grass fed, with daily pasture moves during the season, and winter hay produced within a few miles of the farm. We do not wean calves, but rather allow for natural milk management by the cows. We rely on maintaining a super high nutritional level in the cows to make them capable of sustaining their own condition as well as that of their calves. Steers and heifers are harvested at around twenty-eight months old.
